Cultural & Educational Activities in Egmont and Nearby

Visit the Iris Giffith Center and the new Egmont Heritage Center. You will come away with a better understanding of West Coast biology and the culture of our past and future. Learn what it takes to carve a 30-foot Totem Pole from master caver Arnold Jones, who will spend the summer of 2009 carving a totem at the Heritage Center.

Drop in at the local Backeddy Pub for a visit with the locals.  Why not give the prawn boaters a hand unloading one evening in exchange for a few pounds of prawns?  We will gladly toss them on the barbeque for you.

Rock Climbing

This is a great way for families or groups to spend a few hours. Great for beginners as well as those who are young at heart.

Fishing Tours

Come and enjoy your British Columbia experience by fishing our bountiful waters.  Whether it's your first fish or one of many, our veteran fishing guides will help you find a trophy!

We offer both fresh water and salt water fishing, although it is recommended that you book early.

Salt-water Fishing Trip

Your guide, Dennis Levasseur, has fished in the waters around West Coast Wilderness Lodge for 20 years. He operates year-round and his boat, a 28 ft cabin cruiser, is heated for winter fishing.

To say the scenery is spectacular is an understatement; you will see eagles, sea lions and historical petroglyphs (ancient rock paintings of Coast Salish First Nations origin).  It is not uncommon to see bears or whales as well.

$650 for 1 - 4 persons

Fresh-water Fishing Trip
                     Fishing in Phantom Lake

"I have been lucky to fish the fresh-water lakes and rivers of B.C. for over 20 years. The last 15 or so I have spent predominantly fly-fishing. From the voracious Cutthroat Trout that inhabit our lakes, streams and estuaries to the many Salmon species that are only a fly's toss away, the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia is a fly-fishing paradise. Come and discover year round fly-fishing opportunities!"

These full-day trips are led by Scott Elliot, who is the owner and chief guide of Trout Tales Fly-fishing Adventures. Your trip includes all transportation, equipment and gear including hand-tied flies, a fly fishing lesson (if required), and lunch.

Scott is licensed to fish over 20 different bodies of water on the Sunshine Coast and he always knows where they are biting! Many of these areas are remote and are only accessible by 4x4.

Wildlife sightings are common on these trips with deer, elk, beavers and eagles to watch along the way while you angle for a trophy!
